Adjustment
to the long term care environment is extremely difficult for
some of our residents. Add memory loss, anxiety, and depression
and the behavioral symptoms that result are a challenge to
our staff. This program is designed to help our staff recognize,
interpret and manage these behavioral symptoms
Learning
Objectives
- Participants
will have a better appreciation of the many factors that
can influence aggressive behavior.
- Participants
will understand the role they unwittingly play in promoting
aggressive behavior.
- Introduce
the method of documentation that focuses on "symptoms"
rather than "labels."
- Participants
will learn the strategies of intervention available to prevent
this behavior and how to be creative when working with an
individual resident.
